Saiyuki: Love Tokens

Once in a while, Tenpou weeded his stacks. Or he put some in storage. Mostly storage.

Kenren sighed heavily and looked at the books Tenpou was putting away. There were a couple of boxes already and they couldn’t trust anyone else to cart them away. No, for Tenpou’s precious books they had to do it themselves.

He frowned as he recognized one of the books in the box. He’d given Tenpou one like that. He shrugged, feeling a little disappointed.

He picked up the duster and started dusting again. Tenpou was doing a good job with the weeding. Every book he wanted to re-read, he was putting in another pile instead of sitting down to read it then.

Two bookcases down, Kenren frowned. There was another copy of the book he’d seen in the box on the shelf in front of him.

He managed not to jump as he felt two arms go around his waist. “Yes?” Tenpou asked.

Kenren frowned. “No wonder you have to put some of these in storage. You’ve got duplicates.”

“What?” Tenpou asked. Kenren pointed and Tenpou chuckled. “That copy is the one you gave me. The other one is in the box.”

“…huh.”

Tenpou smiled. “I have a lot of books, Kenren. You do give me duplicates of ones I already have.” He turned Kenren away from the bookcase and toward him. “Just try not to give me the same book twice. I’d hate to have to choose between two love tokens.”
