A tremendously exciting weekend opens in the WHL tonight with the Regina Pats home to the expansion Edmonton Oil Kings in the Brandt Centre at 7pm. It's game four of a five-game homestand for the Queen City Kids and they are 3-0 so far. The Pats begin the weekend with a 3-point lead for first-place in the East over Brandon, Moose Jaw and Swift Current. Tonight, the Warriors visit P.A., Brandon's at Saskatoon and the Broncos are at Lethbridge. The Pats magic number to clinch first is 4.5. It could lower to 1.5 this weekend, or stay the same....
J.D. Watt. The shirt says it all.
There's something very charismatic about Pats' 20-year old forward J.D.Watt. He's a true power-forward, a 4th-round pick of the Calgary Flames who's already signed an NHL contract. He owns a Memorial Cup ring from the 2007 Vancouver Giants squad, and has played in the past two Memorial Cups. Maybe I'm gravitated towards him because we're both a little off-centre. Whatever. But I thought he had some profound statements on PatsTV this week which I'd like to share. Forgive the all-caps, but it's easier to type that way when one of your hands is broken in two places...
