Hello John / CFDL
I was not able to find your photos searching in the photo
section. I am interested in this report. Why do you suspect they are
modern fakes? If there is no indication of modern casting methods, I
think they could be contemporary imitations. Or they might be modern
cast fakes, and just not show any signs of modern casting methods.
Prokopov et al have published a number of ancient cast
imitations of Roman coins, even some silver, which in some cases may
even be official Roman issue from the frontiers. The Yaudheya and
others cast bronze coins in imitation of struck coins, in ancient
India.
I never saw any ancient cast Napki Malka coins, but I would
suspect they might exist, especially in those times and that region.
The Hephthalite like many other ancient empires might not have
tightly controlled the manufacture of bronze coins, they might have
officially cast Napki Malka coins at some point in time / place, or
they might have been cast out of / after the period of control of the
Hephthalite.
